Up, Down, Sideways, Backwards…. All In! Part 2
A story of persistence, optimism and entrepreneurial spirit!
Part 2
A story of persistence, optimism and entrepreneurial spirit!
This story continues with the celebration of creativity and grit. It’s wonderful to have ideas but the critical piece is the follow through in starting and implementing the plan, then riding through the operational success or failure of the plan, learning, celebrating and possibly expanding, changing or reinventing.
Heck this is a familiar story to me through my evolution as a fairy, trying to spread joy in the world. I began with Joie de Vivre, a business to ‘light the candles and set the table’ for teamwork and celebration of accomplishments and strengths. This I began alone, as Dazzle, then involved my father Frank Urbanski, Sparkle. We ran business workshops and I wrote two business parables. Also as Dazzle and Sparkle, we were presenting tributes to people for birthdays, anniversaries and retirements. The fairy theme also ran through my teaching career as a social skills teacher fairy. My side interest was as a writer. Slowly, some of these paths closed while others merged, my dear Sparkle passed away and eventually my primary role has evolved into being a writing fairy presenting ideas on line, in classrooms and on occasion for special events. The journey has been about flexibility, reinvention, grit and optimism.
So for entrepreneurs out there hunker down and remember the passion that ignited your desire to start your business. Think of the hummingbird as your talisman. How this tiny bird can accomplish what no other can. You will survive and sail forward….that entrepreneurial spirit is in your veins!
Dazzle’s Challenge:
- Ask you child to do something that is routine in a different way. Draw a picture with your toes and feet. Yes put the pencil between your toes. Try writing with your non-dominant hand. Can you print your name?
