Are Our Marriages Going to Survive COVID?
I’m excited to see people being inventive in creating date nights with their partners.
A couple close friends of ours were celebrating a birthday and as such the young adult kids living with them told them that they were going to prepare a special romantic birthday meal on the patio. The meal was better than many high-end restaurants and the private romantic atmosphere created with a beautifully set table, candles and fine wine. They were instructed to dress for the occasion. A perfect alternative to going out and so heart felt from the kids.
Another young couple celebrating their tenth anniversary spent the day taking some great outdoor pictures. Later, they ordered a take out meal, set a beautiful table in their dining room and were lucky to have one of the grandmothers who live with them watch the kids. A couple who celebrated their first anniversary chose to order a picnic basket from a local cheese shop which they then enjoyed in the beauty of the great outdoors.
Our son and his girlfriend are using Scrabble as way to getaway from the t.v. watching stimulate the mind and introduce some playful competition. We also enjoyed Scrabble as a great playful date night.
During this intense time, it is more important than ever that parents are making time for their relationships. Kids pick up on tensions and nuances. Like they on the airplane, put the mask on yourself first then on the person next to you.
Here is a poem I crafted. Let’s hope we all work on keeping that flame going.
Dazzle’s Challenge:
- Once the kids are in bed, sketch each other, or if only one person is comfortable, let one be the model (dressed or otherwise wink, wink)
- OR try one of these great ideas
