Having Fun in the Outdoors & Sharing Goodwill
In the interest of offering creative learning ideas to families I’m sharing two ideas from young mom friends.
Caralyn with her daughter have found beautifully painted rocks then subsequently have gone home to create their own versions, which they have placed in nature for someone to find. What a great activity, promoting sharing, creativity, time in nature and fitness!
Jennifer has made it a regular passionate adventure with her daughters in geo-caching. Geo-caching you ask? Yes, it is a great way to orienteer and find treasures in nature. This activity is founded on community trust and sharing, recording one’s presence, leaving a treasure if one is taken. It relies on fitness, reading and mapping skills and is great fun!
I made a poor attempt at painting rocks then leaving them on a large boulder formation along the valley course, walking trail at Bear Mountain. (I couldn’t help but leave a small plastic wand too!”)
So friends try these ideas with your children. You might find you’ll be as hooked as your kids.
Dazzle’s Challenge:
- Paint some rocks, leave them somewhere special, OR geo-cache, take pictures then post the picture on social media to inspire others. Write a mini story about the experience.
